Małgorzata Zakłos-Szyda PhD, DSc Eng is an university professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences at the Lodz University of Technology (Poland), Institute of Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology. As a member of the Food Biochemistry and Nutrigenomics Team, she is involved in the in vitro culture studies conduction with primary animal cells and immortalized cell lines. Her scientific interests include searching for phytochemicals with potential use in the anticancer therapy or as a dietary components of functional foods used in prevention of metabolic diseases, such as insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver, obesity. In particular she specializes in research on signal transduction and expression of genes in animal cells.
She is the author or co-author of 39 original papers published in peer-reviewed international and national journals (including 38 journals on the JCR list), 1 peer-reviewed chapter in monography (in English) and 1 patent application (Hirsch Index according to Web of Science = 18; the total Impact Factor is over 200). She has been involved in realization of 10 grants and research works as (in 1 as PI).
In addition to molecular studies she runs courses based on tissue and cell cultures, phytocompounds biological activity (molecular mechanisms of nutraceuticals and their toxicity), immunochemical techniques development and usage in biotechnology, toxicology, and biochemistry.
